Biography
Photographic artist Rogier Houwen (1992, NL) is based in Amsterdam and works around the world. He completed his BA in Photography and Design at HKU University of the Arts in Utrecht in 2015 and exhibits his work internationally. Houwen’s photography is focussed on peeling away appearances and opening our eyes to the spheres that underlie the scope of the visible. Emphasised by the tactility of his printing techniques, applied to both traditional papers and experimental surfaces, the artist reveals the sublime beauty of the everyday.
Inspired by the experience of being one with the cosmos, Houwen’s works draws the attention towards cosmic awareness. In an era that increasingly challenges the human connection to their ecological environment, Houwen’s subtle and contemplative photography invites the viewer to revalue our connection to the cosmic ecosystem.
